Paul's professional radio career has spanned 20 years.
Like many presenters,
he managed to wangle his way into 'the business' through a combination of
talent and luck! Paul was in Oxford when FOX FM was about to launch and he
literally spotted an open door, sneaked in, left his demo tape on the programme
controllers desk and a few days later got that magical call! He's also been
heard on London's Smooth Radio, Capital Gold (South and Birmingham), Southern
FM, MIX96, Chiltern, 2CR FM and Red Dragon.
Most recently he's been a mainstay
on weekend breakfast for Newbury Sound and Andover Sound in central southern
Despite his history with British commercial radio, Paul shares the view that many great artists are missing from the playlists of the UK radio stations and only a "safe" selection of the classics are ever heard on the radio these days. Radio Seagull is the perfect platform to appreciate the widest variety of music from the greatest (and lesser known) artists of all time! An offering that simply wouldn't be contemplated by today's financially-biased radio stations.
Highlights of his career include interviewing actor David Jason (Only
Fools & Horses), Tracey Thorn & Ben Watt (Everything But
The Girl), plus working alongside BBC broadcasting legends Tony
Blackburn, Dave Lee Travis and Jimmy Savile.
He's compèred numerous charity fundraisers, village
fetes, awards dinners and switched on more Christmas lights than he cares to
Paul has also appeared on Page 3 of the Sun newspaper... mercifully
with his clothes on!
When he's not behind the microphone Paul loves to travel the world. His
hobbies include photography, astronomy, anything involving flight and a good
game of pool. He's also known for rattling off a tune on the piano and
composing his own songs. Being a musician helps with his appreciation of a wide
variety of music and Paul is keen to share his eclectic tastes in soft rock and
world music with you on his show, which can be heard
